1. Introduction
   ============

   Burst Alert System:

2. Portability
   ===========

   ibas_client version 2.1.0 was successfully compiled, installed and
   run on the following systems:

   - Sun Solaris 5.8
     using GNU gcc 2.95.3

   - Linux (Debian 3.0, kernel 2.4.18)
     using GNU gcc 2.95.4

3. Changes since last release
   ==========================

   ==============

   2.0.0 -> 2.1.0

   ==============

   Clarified in relevant doc files, that only 32bit architectures
   are officially supported and tested. 64bit archs were not that
   common back in 2002. However, one should be able to compile
   ibas client software under 64bit OS (probably with minor fixes).

   Minor fixes to the leap seconds handling

   Added support for WEAK alerts (alert type = 6). WEAK alerts
   were introduced in ibas_alertd-2.1.0 and are generated for events
   with significance below "normal" thresholds. Several observatories
   signalled their willingness to followup such alerts. WEAK alerts are
   neither confirmed nor rejected.

   Users Manual updated :

   a) ibas server IP change documented
   b) WEAK alert details documented.

   ==============

   1.1.2 -> 2.0.0

   ==============

   A new field (object_type) was introduced in the alert packet.
   This new field allows the identification of non GRB events, e.g.
   SGR etc. Users can subscribe individually to the various object
   types. The new field is located in the range of SPARE bytes, i.e.
   the total length of the alert packets remains 400 bytes.

   Compatibility:

   The ibas_client software version < 2.0.0 is still able to read the
   new alert packets. However, to decode the object type you need the
   ibas_client version 2.0.0
